It’s time to create real, lasting Change in your community

Learn the step-by-step strategic planning framework created specifically for community-
based nonprofits just like yours to develop strong, mission-based teams with the financial
resources to positively impact your community… all in just 8 weeks!
You are a small to medium-sized nonprofit with a deep-rooted passion to help others and make a difference through your programs and services.
To say you’re dedicated to the mission of your nonprofit is an understatement…as a community-based organization, you provide incredible services to lift up community members, advocate tirelessly for marginalized groups, raise awareness about important social issues, and actively promote justice. Your organization genuinely cares and gives its all to your cause and the people you serve to ensure no one is left behind.

But you’ve realized this dedication and passion can only get you so far. The reality is that you’re dealing with massive constraints when it comes to time, resources, and capacity that force you to wear so many hats to make ends meet. It feels like you’re on a never-ending hamster wheel of day-to-day issues that make it impossible to step off and address the roots of some of these issues. You’re constantly scrambling to stay one step ahead of whatever needs to be done at that specific moment.
You sit at your desk each morning and power up your computer with the same
thoughts running through your head on a loop…
How are we going to hit our
funding goals this quarter?
How are we going to pay
our team this month?
Where are we going to find
committed volunteers?
How do we handle the
backlog of record-keeping
and administrative
responsibilities?
How do we deliver
programs that make an
impact and stay within our
(limited) budget?
How do we raise awareness
about our programs and
build partnerships that help
us make a bigger impact?
You’re exhausted and burnt out from operating without the resources you desperately need (and deserve).

And your team is feeling it too… You worry about your employees being motivated and staying committed to your cause, but they seem to be disengaged, and quite frankly, moving through the motions. The idea of having to find, hire, and train other staff members is enough to put you in a tailspin.

Hear this: your
organization is not alone.

The truth is running a nonprofit is hard work… Even the most committed and inspired organizations struggle to cultivate the resources and support they need to bring their vision to life. According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics, only around 50% of nonprofits are successful, with about 30% of nonprofits ceasing to exist after ten years.

Successful organizations are grappling with high employee turnover rates and the challenge of retaining engaged and committed staff. Forbes recently revealed a study that concluded that 45% of responding nonprofit employees indicated that they will seek new or different employment prior to 2025. 23% of that group shared they would be exiting the nonprofit sector completely.

Yet the REAL REASON your organization is struggling isn’t due to your lack of staffing, resources to meet your goals, or those few extra hours in a day you wish you could magically manifest…
Organizations fail to bring about real change because they’re focused on the immediate issues of day-to-day management – constantly putting out fires, solving problems as they surface, and more. The real reason your organization is struggling is due to a lack of strategy and alignment that would allow you to focus on the community impact and results you want to achieve, as opposed to tackling organizational issues reactively, as opposed to proactively.

When we’re so invested in the immediate needs of our organization, it’s impossible to create and foster real change in our communities. When we effectively address our organizational needs from the source, we create the capacity to have more time, resources, and energy for innovative, generative programming and results.
The only way for you and your organization to meet your goals consistently and make the impact you dream of is to have a cohesive strategic plan in place.
By starting with the end in mind, you’re able to reverse-engineer a game plan that’s tailored to your organization, your goals, and your larger vision for impacting your community.

Maybe you’ve dabbled in strategic planning in the past with dismal results, or it sat on the shelf, dust collecting as your intention of revisiting it passed by.

Or maybe the idea of even exploring strategic planning feels daunting… You don’t have time to experiment with this when your time and attention are needed in so many other facets of your organization.
Or, maybe you think strategic planning doesn't apply to your organization...
As an early-stage organization or potentially lacking sufficient resources like infrastructure and staffing, you may feel that you can’t fully reap the benefits of strategic planning.

At the end of the day, one thing is for certain. Every organization can benefit from strategic planning. A well-built strategic plan helps you prioritize and focus your resources effectively – giving you the opportunity to step back, assess your current situation, and identify the KEY areas where you can make the most significant difference to help you achieve long-term success and real change in your community.

The good news is this…

With the guidance and a proven framework in place to create a plan for impact, you can finally jump off the hamster wheel of doing ALL THE THINGS, while wearing ALL THE HATS and pivot from feeling overwhelmed, confused, and exhausted to feeling empowered, confident, and inspired.

Imagine a completely different dynamic for your organization – one focused on meeting your funding goals, decreasing burnout, increasing employee engagement and retention, and delivering the results you always knew were possible.

I know this because I’ve helped many organizations just like yours make this critical shift — and I’ve watched their programs, funding, and staff benefit greatly. I’d love to help you do the same.

Hi, I’m Megan Joseph
My passion has always been and will continue to be creating real, lasting change.
From being a teenager advocating for prison reform in my high school senior project, to knocking on doors in my early twenties to raise money for public interest projects I was passionate about,  I’ve always been fascinated with the ability to create impact through change and the power of community ecosystems.

My career in the non-profit space includes wearing almost every hat, in every layer of the industry. After working hands-on for over two decades with social impact organizations and multi-sector collaboratives to design and facilitate leadership development, culture change, organizational capacity building, and project design, I noticed a common pattern within the nonprofit sector - specifically small-medium-sized organizations.
The mainstream understanding of strategic planning in the non-profit sector relies heavily on our collective
past experience – mainly what we’ve learned in big organizations or corporations.
Corporate strategic planning is complicated, expensive, and time-consuming, which means it doesn’t work for non-profits like yours. The needs, resources, stakeholders, and goals are completely different.
But what if there was a framework specifically tailored to non-profits?
One that removed the “corporate lens” we’ve all grown familiar with, and instead focused on the needs and resources of nonprofit organizations to set them up for success?

I founded Impact Launch to support non-profit leaders to do things differently, and to reach the transformative results they care so deeply about. Impact Launch is a collective of social impact professionals that support individuals, teams, and collaboratives to work effectively for equitable and sustainable outcomes in organization, policy, systems, and community change. With the experience of our team, we’ve compiled years of on the ground experience to formulate an approach that combines all the facets of the nonprofit sector to curate the strategic planning process in a way that works.

We’ve helped so many organizations achieve massive results and widen their reach, but deep down we saw a greater opportunity for our process and framework. We wanted to create a world where anyone in the nonprofit sector could benefit from strategic planning, without the need for bringing in a high-ticket consultant or agency.

Program Breakdown

Here’s what your leaders will learn and explore in each module of Launch Your Impact…

Module One

Introducing the Launch Your Impact Roadmap

We’ll kick off the course by introducing the concept of The Launch Your Impact framework and how this system works differently. We’ll dive into an overview of the strategic process so you have the full picture of how strategic planning works, and exactly how it can impact your specific organization.

By building clarity on what hasn’t worked in the past, as well as common pitfalls in the strategic planning process to avoid, we’ll be able to confidently move into curating your plan tailored to your organization’s needs.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Course Pre-Assessment to determine where you are in this process, what benefits of strategic planning could be leveraged in your organization, and craft your goals as we dive into this program together
  • Organizational Assessment to get clear on the core elements of the strategic process we’ll be crafting together, and what strengths and gaps you may have, highlighting opportunities for prioritization and development during this program
  • Launch Your Impact Roadmap which visually breaks down the entire strategic planning process so you have a clear guide as you progress through this program

Module two

Discovering Your Why

The first major step in laying out a strategic plan is determining your WHY as an organization. In Module Two, we’ll develop our Vision and Mission statements, as well as our Purpose Statements to get clear on our reasons for creating or updating a strategic plan so our organization stays motivated, on track, focused, and in forward momentum throughout the planning process.

Clarity and alignment on our “Why” as individual leaders is important, but what may be equally important, if not more, is the skill to articulate that “Why” to others. Staff, board members, funders, and partners will benefit from clarity of why the strategic plan is important.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Mission and Vision Statement Tool to help you refresh and/or develop or update your Mission and Vision Statements
  • Strategic Plan Purpose Statement Tool to help us clearly communicate our Why with teams and stakeholders to get everyone motivated and on board

Module three

Create Buy-In for the Plan & Planning Process

Module Three is all about buy-in — the impact it makes in the overall strategic planning process, and the steps you need to take to implement it into your own organization. From staff to funders to clients, generating buy-in and shared commitment from the top to the bottom of the organization at the beginning of a strategic planning process – and ideally before it has even begun – is a critical component of a successful plan.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • 5 Steps to Generating Buy-In Guide to generate inspiring and meaningful conversations that inspire buy-in in the planning process
  • Stakeholder Engagement Checklist to ensure you are including all the key individuals and organizations that should be a part of your planning process.
  • Strategic Planning Kick-Off Meeting Template to help you host a powerful Strategic Planning Kick-off Meeting

Module four

The “Big 5”: Assess Your Current Reality

In Module Four, we’ll explore the “Big 5” – the five key focus areas that make the most impact in the strategic planning process. By focusing our plan and planning process on these key organizational aspects, we can center our strategic plan to generate results. We’ll work together to assess the current strengths and gaps in each area within your organization to help inform the next step in the planning process.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Focus Area Internal Assessment to determine the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities within your own organization to inform us of where to focus as we work together to develop your strategic plan

Module five

Collecting the Essential Information to Inform Your Plan

The planning process is equal parts looking at and learning from the past, recognizing and analyzing where we are now, and looking ahead toward the future. In Module Five, we’ll explore the information-gathering process to collect the key information we need to inform our strategic planning process.

We’ll walk through the five essential types of information you need to cut down on overwhelm and streamline this process for you. We’ll also work together to assess your own organization to discover what information you have, what you need, and steps on how to fill the gaps.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Information Assessment & Planning Worksheet to help you determine what information you already have and what you might be missing, as well as formulate a plan for bridging the gaps in information
  • Information Sourcing Guide to guide you through the process of collecting the information you’re lacking, so you have clear direction to fill in the gaps in your collection process
  • Key Stakeholder Interview Template to develop stakeholder interview questions to aide the information collection process

Module six

Develop Organizational
North Star Goals

Without a “North Star”, it’s easy to veer off course in the strategic planning process. The key to a successful strategic plan is setting clear, relevant organizational goals that translate directly to your strategic plan.

In Module Six, we’ll learn the two buckets of organizational goals, and how to use them as a framework to create tailored North Star goals for your own organization.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Setting Organizational “North Star” Goals to help you reflect on the needs within your organization
  • Setting Organizational Goals Worksheet to brainstorm specific goals that will be critical to moving your organization forward as part of your strategic plan

Module seven

Define Measurable, Equitable, & Meaningful Outcomes

Now that we’ve laid out our North Star goals, we need to translate them into key outcomes to help you achieve those goals. Module Seven is geared towards supporting you in creating MEMOs (Measurable, Equitable, Meaningful Outcomes) that will serve as measurable milestones or stepping-stones along the way to reaching those North Star goals, and ultimately your Vision and Mission.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • MEMO Worksheet to help you work through the outcome development process with your team to define outcomes related to your organizational goals.

Module eight

Put It All Together: Strategies & Implementation

In our final module, we’re bringing together all the work we’ve done together. We’ll work together to formulate a strategic plan for your organization based on the goals and outcomes we’ve developed, all tied into your “Why”. You’ll walk away with a fully customized strategic plan ready for implementation!

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Creating Strategies to Reach Our Goals to define the clear action steps and strategies your organization will take to realize its goals
  • Putting it All Together: Strategic Plan Template to help your team put all the pieces together into one place, creating your final strategic plan

As part of Launch Your Impact, you’ll receive:

Here’s what some of our clients have to say…
Through working with Megan and her team on our strategic plan, we were able to articulate our vision and direction to our funders and therefore increase our budget and team size tri-fold. The process helped our team align around a shared vision and set of values, as well as a path for systems change, which was also fundamental to our growth.  The process itself was clear, co-creative and tailored to our needs. Megan listened carefully to our goals in our 1:1 sessions and all of our people felt represented in the final plan.

Megan's approach led us through a comprehensive, effective, inclusive and equitable strategic planning process for United Way Bay Area in 2021. Megan helped us create insightful spaces where our longtime and new staff members; our board members; our community partners; our funders and other supporters were able to openly provide us feedback on what has been effective, what needs to change, and where inspiration lies in our work for the future. Nearly two-thirds of our staff took part in drafting and deciding on the content of the strategic plan through all hands staff meetings, committees, subcommittees, surveys and working groups. Our strategic plan is the foundation for not just the next three years of our work, but will help launch us into our next century.
- Kevin Z.
Megan was a true partner in the process every step of the way, spending extra time discussing goals, outcomes and strategies for every meeting and every part of the planning process. Megan’s past experience leading planning processes helped her focus on our unique needs and tailor our individual sessions to exactly what we needed. We now have a comprehensive and inclusive plan that our entire staff is onboard with.
